CityScapes Public Art Program
Public art creates a richly diverse and meaningful place
to live, work and visit. Every vital city across the nation has a public art
component lending to its success.
CityScapes is an exciting collaboration that serves as an annual public art
program for the Birmingham community. Professional artists are solicited
throughout the Midwest to lend their work for temporary display in outdoor
public areas within Downtown Birmingham. This program initially created in
1990 by the Cultrual Council of Birmingham Bloomfield, has recently been
renewed through a partnership with the Birmingham Public Arts Board.
Current public art pieces include:
Transformation 2 by Ray Katz located at Martin and
Bates
X-Ray Man Ray by Terry Dill located at Brown and
Pierce
Wind Rapids by Russell Thayer located at Merrill
and Pierce
Torso by Herb Babcock located at Oakland and Old
Woodward
Upcast by Clement Meadmore located at Maple and
Southfield
